You receive the "Error (2) occurred during the action Insert Object" error message when you try to insert an object into your Visio 2002 drawing

SYMPTOMS

When you try to insert an object from a Microsoft Office XP program into your Microsoft Visio 2002 drawing, you may receive the following error message:
An error (2) occurred during the action Insert Object
For example, you may receive the error message when you insert a Microsoft Word document into your Visio drawing.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if any one of the following conditions is true:
  • The driver that is installed for your video adaptor is outdated.
  • The driver that is installed for your printer is outdated.
  • Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2002 or Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2002 that includes Norton AntiVirus 2002 is installed on the computer, and a conflict exists with a component of the Norton AntiVirus program. This conflict prevents you from being able to insert objects into your Visio drawing.

RESOLUTION

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:
  1. If Norton AntiVirus 2002 or Norton SystemWorks 2002 is not installed on your computer, make sure that the latest driver that is available for your video adaptor, your printer, or both is installed. Contact your video adaptor, printer manufacturer, or both for more information about how to obtain and install the latest drivers for your video adaptor and printer.

    If Norton Antivirus 2002 or Norton SystemWorks 2002 is installed on the computer, continue with step 2.
  2. Visit the following Symantec Web site for Norton Antivirus 2002 and Norton SystemWorks 2002 information and product updates:
