When you click the Member Of tab in a user's properties, Active Directory Users and Computers may stop working if the user belongs to groups whose name begins with a leading slash mark ("/"). When this problem occurs, Active Directory Users and Computers typically quits without any warnings or error messages.
Depending on the number of groups with leading slash mark characters of which the user is a member, Active Directory Users and Computers may stop working when it is populating the Member of box, when you are closing the user's properties, or during later use. Typically, the more groups with leading slash mark characters, the sooner the problem occurs.
When Active Directory Users and Computers stop working, the only affected data is uncommitted changes on the current property that you are viewing. If this problem occurs, Microsoft recommends that you start Active Directory Users and Computers again and verify the last object property that you tried to modify.
A name-parsing routine causes process heap corruption when the routine encounters a group whose name begins with a slash mark.
