You cannot add a link from an Off-page reference shape to a new page or to an existing page in your flowchart

In Microsoft Visio, when you drag an Off-page reference shape from the Basic Flowchart Shapes stencil to your drawing page, click to select the Keep shape text synchronized check box in the Off-page reference dialog box, and then click OK, you may find that nothing occurs.

The Off-page reference dialog box unexpectedly remains displayed on your screen. As a result, you cannot add a link from an Off-page reference shape to a new page or to an existing page in your flowchart.

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

• The locale your computer is set to use a format other than English. For example, the locale setting that you configure in the Regional and Language Options tool of Control Panel is set to Finnish.
  
  -and-
• You drag an Off-page reference shape from the Basic Flowchart Shapes stencil to your drawing page.
  
  -and-
• You click to select the Keep shape text synchronized check box in the Off-page reference dialog box.

This problem is corrected in Visio 2002 Service Pack 2.

After the hotfix is installed, the English version of this fix will have the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Off-page references provide links between sections of large flowcharts that appear on different Visio drawing pages. When you insert an Off-page reference shape in your drawing, the Off-page reference dialog box is appears. Here you can specify the page where you want the flowchart to continue, and how you want to use the Off-page reference shape in your flowchart.
