Paged pool memory decreases as you add RAM

SYMPTOMS

When you add more than six gigabytes (GB) of RAM to your computer, the amount of Paged Pool memory may decrease. This occurs when you use the Intel Physical Addressing Extension (PAE) specification with the /PAE switch in the Boot.ini file to add the RAM. Note that this symptom only occurs when you use this method to add RAM to a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
