Article ID: 812067 - Last Review: February 20, 2007 - Revision: 2.6 XADM: Mailbox Deletions Come Back After ADC Replication Cycle
On This PageSYMPTOMSIf you use Active Directory User and Computers to delete an Exchange Server 5.5 mailbox from Windows 2000 Active Directory, the deleted mailbox is replicated back to Active Directory. This behavior occurs only if Active Directory Connector (ADC) between the Exchange Server 5.5 and Active Directory is a two-way Connection Agreement that is configured to save deletes to a CSV/LDF file.
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the ADC is disabling the
Exchange Server 5.5 mailbox (as expected), but it does not update the
ReplicatedObjectVersion attribute. The ADC sees the deletion in Active
Directory, it tombstones the ADCGlobalNames attribute on the Exchange Server
5.5 object. However, because ADC does not update the ReplicatedObjectVersion
attribute, it now treats this deletion as the newest change. On the next
cycle, ADC replicates the mailbox
from Exchange Server 5.5
back to Active
Directory. RESOLUTIONCumulative Patch InformationTo resolve this problem, obtain the March 2003 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) Rollup. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:813840
