"Dri_kbfiltr Not Found" Error Message on Startup

SYMPTOMS

After you start Windows XP Professional, you may receive the following error message:
dri_kbfiltr could not be found

CAUSE

This issue may occur after you upgrade from Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Professional.

RESOLUTION

Method 1: Look for Updated Drivers

You can look for updated drivers for DriTek Solutions' Multimedia Hotkeys software if you visit the following DriTek Solutions Web site:

Method 2: Remove Multimedia Hotkeys Software from Windows Startup

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type MSCONFIG, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Startup tab.
  4. Click to clear the cpatr10 check box.
  5. Click OK.

    If you are prompted to do so, restart your computer.

The Dri_kbfiltr file is a driver that controls DriTek Solutions' Multimedia HotKeys software. After you upgrade from Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Professional, this driver no longer works. However, the hotkey mappings for Multimedia Hotkeys continue to work without this driver being loaded.
