You cannot build an OLAP cube when scheduled in Microsoft Project Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

After you review the status of a Scheduled Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube, you find that the cube was not successfully created. Changes to the OLAP cube may be saved yet a window appears advising that the OLAP cube could not be saved. Additionally, the following Event may be logged in the Application log of the Windows Event Viewer:

RESOLUTION

Service Pack Information

This problem is corrected in Microsoft Project Server 2002 Service Pack 1.

WORKAROUND

To work around the symptoms that are described at the top of this article, manually create the OLAP cube. To do this, follow these steps:

Open Project Web Access (PWA).
Click Update Resource Tables and OLAP Cube.
To create the OLAP cube for reporting, click Update Now.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Project Server 2002 Service Pack 1.
