On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you press ESC on a Universal Serial Bus (USB) keyboard, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center does not switch from full-screen mode to windowed mode. Note When you press ESC on a PS/2 keyboard, Media Center will switch to windowed mode. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because Media Center detects a USB keyboard as another
remote control (not as a keyboard) when Media Center is running in full-screen mode. When you press
ESC on a USB keyboard when Media Center is in full-screen mode, Media Center will perform the same action that it does when you press
CLEAR on your remote control. Note When you press CLEAR on your remote control, any information that you have entered is removed (deleted). WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, press ALT+ESC
on your USB keyboard to switch Media Center to windowed mode.
