FIX: Common Language Runtime may not handle an unexpected process shutdown correctlyArticle ID: 813419 - View products that this article applies to. SYMPTOMSIf an unexpected process shutdown occurs, the ExitProcess function is called to end the process. The unexpected process shutdown may occur as a result of an unrecoverable access violation. When this problem occurs, the garbage-collector thread may end while garbage collection is in progress. Later, if a function is called that must wait for garbage collection to be completed, a deadlock occurs. For example, the SystemDomain::ReleaseFusionInterfaces function may be called and must wait for garbage collection to be completed. This causes the process to stop responding (hang). RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework service pack that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
