To determine the version of SharePoint Portal Server that you are running:
  1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Explore.
  2. Locate the following folder:
    Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Mssearch\Bin
    .
  3. Right-click Mssrch.dll, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Version tab.
If the Version tab for the Mssrch.dll file displays version 10.0145.6011.0, you are running SharePoint Portal Server SP2. If the Version tab for the Mssrch.dll file displays version 10.0145.6011.5, you are running SharePoint Portal Server SP2a.
