WD2002: Rows or Columns Are Missing from a Pasted Microsoft Excel Worksheet

If you use the Paste or Paste link command to put a large Microsoft Excel worksheet into a Word document, Word may not include all the columns or rows of the worksheet. Word may cut off the columns and rows that exceed the right or bottom margins of the current page if you paste or paste link the worksheet in any of the following formats:

• Microsoft Excel 5.0 Worksheet Object
• Rich Text Format (RTF)
• Picture
• Bitmap
• Picture (Enhanced Metafile)
• HTML Format

Hotfix Information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

After the hotfix is installed, the English version of this fix will have the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel. This fix is a post-Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2) fix. To install the fix, you must have Office XP SP-2 installed. To work around this problem, paste the Excel range as Unformatted Text or Unformatted Unicode Text:

1. Copy the cell range in Excel.
2. On the Edit menu in Word, click Paste Special.
3. In the Paste Special dialog box, click either Unformatted Text or Unformatted Unicode Text, and then click OK.
   
   Note If you want to link to the Excel worksheet, click to select the Paste link check box in the Paste Special dialog box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.
