STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
Windows 2000This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.MORE INFORMATIONIf you have installed the hotfixes that are mentioned in the
"Resolution" section yet the issue is not resolved, capture the network traffic
between the failing client and the file server that holds the share for offline
folders. Network traces may show that the client stops SMB traffic ungracefully by sending a TCP FIN or a "server not responding to SMB requests in time" message. If you suspect a server resource problem, restart the server, and then use Performance Monitor to find the root cause of the server resource problem. Typically, such resource problems are caused by kernel mode file system filter drivers that are installed by antivirus software or backup agents.
