Article ID: 815425 - Last Review: November 21, 2006 - Revision: 1.4 Access Violation When Inetinfo Receives Mail That Contains a Header of More Than 64 KB
SYMPTOMSWhen the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol Service (SMTPSvc) component receives a mail message that contains a header of more than 64 kilobytes (KB), this may generate an access violation. CAUSEIf the size of a mail header is more than about 64 KB, SMTPSvc shuts down incorrectly because it does not synchronize threads. Because SMTPSvc works as a part of Internet Information Services (IIS), the access violation occurs in the Inetinfo.exe file.
