Article ID: 815473 - Last Review: February 22, 2007 - Revision: 3.2 File Replication Service Does Not Log Errors on Sharing Violations
On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you run File Replication service (FRS) for the domain SYSVOL or the Distributed File System (DFS) volumes, the updates to files do not appear on all replicas of the volumes, and no error is logged in the log file. The status of FRS on the replica sets shows that a sharing violation is preventing the replication process from continuing. Running the net file command from the command prompt shows that the client still has the file opened. When you close the file or disconnect it, replication resumes. RESOLUTIONThere are two methods to resolve this problem. Method 1: Install SonarDownload and install Sonar, and then use it to monitor sharing violations. To download Sonar, visit the following Microsoft Web site:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=158cb0fb-fe09-477c-8148-25ae02cf15d8&DisplayLang=en
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=158cb0fb-fe09-477c-8148-25ae02cf15d8&DisplayLang=en)
Note When Sonar detects a sharing violation, it reports it in the Server column as a non-zero entry.Method 2: Install the HotfixA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. Note The "Hotfix download available" form displays the languages for which the hotfix is available. If you do not see your language, it is because a hotfix is not available for that language. After you obtain and install this hotfix, configure your server according to the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 822300
