Multiple-Page Word Document Is Not Collated in the Correct Order When You Print It

SYMPTOMS

After you click to select the Collate check box in the Print dialog box in Microsoft Word and then try to print multiple copies of a multiple-page document, the document pages may not print in the correct order.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the document requires that the printer use more than one paper size. This problem most frequently occurs with the IBM Infoprint 20 printer and with the NEC MultiWriter 2200X2 printer.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
