Indexing Service Extension Is Not Listed in IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003Article ID: 816969 - View products that this article applies to. SYMPTOMSOn a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the Web service extension to allow
or prohibit Indexing Service functionality is missing from the list of Web service
extensions in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, although Indexing Service
is installed on the server. CAUSEThis problem occurs if Indexing Service is installed
before IIS is installed on the server. IIS must
be installed on the server before Indexing Service is installed so that the Indexing Service
Web service extension is registered with IIS. If IIS is not installed, Indexing Service cannot
register its Web service extension. By default, the IIS installer does not add the Web service extension when IIS is installed. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, remove and re-add Indexing Service to the server. To remove Indexing Service, follow
these steps:
