SUMMARY

This article describes how the Windows Server 2003 Active Directory user interface (UI) is different from the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Active Directory UI.

In the Windows Server 2003 Active Directory hierarchy, the forest root is located in the Active Directory Domains and Trusts node. In the Windows 2000 Server Active Directory hierarchy, the forest root is at the top of the list of the elements in Active Directory Sites and Services. Therefore, the following tasks are performed differently in Windows Server 2003 Active Directory:

To perform Forest Trust Management tasks, locate the root domain node, not the Active Directory Domains and Trusts snap-in.
To perform forest-wide management tasks (such as user principal name suffixes and Forest Behavior Version settings) locate the Active Directory Domains and Trusts node.
