How to change your Original Xbox console name

You cannot change the name of your Xbox console. The individual games you play on your Xbox console determine the name of your console.

Saved games and saved characters give your Xbox console its unique identity. Other players can see the name of your console when you connect your console to other Xbox consoles in a system link game. For example, when you play Halo: Combat Evolved, you can view the name of your console on the Multiplayer Pre-match screen.

A hidden feature in Xbox is the ability of this unique name to change. This unique functionality serves no real purpose. In software programming, this is what we call an “Easter Egg.”

Although you cannot manually change the name of your console, you can play different games and achieve different levels to see if you can prompt a name change. We cannot provide details about what games or levels affect your console name. However, you can search the Internet to see what games other players suggest to achieve this.
