How to connect the Original Xbox RF Adapter

Expand all | Collapse all

SUMMARY

This article describes how to connect the Original Xbox video game system to a TV that only has UHF/VHF inputs with the Xbox RF Adapter.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Turn off power to your TV, VCR, and the Xbox console.
  2. Connect the Xbox RF Adapter to the AV port on the back of Xbox console.
  3. Connect the Xbox RF Adapter coaxial cable connector, which is the "TV out," to the TV or VCR antenna input. Make sure the connectors are connected securely.
  4. Connect the appropriate coaxial cable, either from the VCR or directly to the antenna, to the antenna in connector. The antenna in connector is the "ANT in." Make sure the connectors are connected securely.
  5. Set the Xbox RF Adapter and the TV or VCR to the same channel. Use either channel 3 or channel 4. Picture quality may improve if you choose a channel that has no other active signal.
If your Xbox console is connected through a VCR, DVD movies may not play because of copy protection technology. This does not affect game play.

Most TVs have a cable post on the back. You may have to see your TV manual or contact the TV manufacturer to find the cable posts on your TV. If your TV does not have a cable post, purchase a converter at a TV or electronics store. You must also have the Xbox RF Adapter to use the Xbox video game system.

If you have another TV in your house with standard RCA hookups, we recommend that you use it with the Xbox video game system instead.
