FIX: Commerce Site Packager Fails When You Use an IP Address

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Commerce Site Packager (PUP) to package a Commerce site, and you specify the server's IP address instead of the computer name (the NetBIOS name), you may receive the following error message:
This computer is not a Web server in the following applications in the site you are packaging.
<AppName1>
<AppName2>
You must make this computer a Web server for each application you want to include in the package file. If you continue, the package file will not contain these applications. Do you want to continue?
[Yes][No]

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Commerce Server 2002. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 2.
