Alignment and indentations in text change when you paste a text box into PowerPoint 2002

When you copy and paste from slides that are based on the Master Slide, the alignment of the text in an Object area for AutoLayouts text box may change. Additionally, the indentations are not retained. The text returns to its normal, non-Master Slide, default settings.

1. Quit Word if Word is running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
4. Locate, and then click to select the following registry key:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\PowerPoint\Options\TextRulerCopyQFE
5. With the preceding key selected, on the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD value.
6. Type TextRulerCopyQFE, and then press ENTER.
7. Right-click TextRulerCopyQFE, and then click Modify.
8. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
9. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.
