FIX: JScript calls the GC.Collect method from IVsaEngine.Close in Visual Studio .NET 2003Article ID: 819792 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen Microsoft JScript code makes a call to the
IVsaEngine.Close method, the IVsaEngine.Close method calls the GC.Collect method. When this call occurs, the garbage collector must start.
If the code of a Web page calls the IVsaEngine.Close method, this behavior may affect performance because garbage collector functions will use up to 70 percent of the processing time. RESOLUTIONHotfix InformationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
