When you try to connect to Xbox Live on your Original Xbox console, you receive one of the following error messages: "Server Not Found", "Xbox Live Not Found", or "DNS Not Found"

When you try to connect to Xbox Live, you may receive one of the following error messages:

• Server Not Found
• Xbox Live Not Found
• DNS Not Found

This behavior may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

• Your firewall is not configured correctly.
• You live in a dormitory on a college campus that provides your Internet service provider (ISP).
• You live in a pre-wired apartment complex and use their ISP.

Note A firewall is a hardware device, such as a router, or a software program that a user configures to block certain network traffic between a private network and an outside network.

The method to configure network ports for a firewall differs depending on the manufacturer of the software firewall or the manufacturer of the router. See the manufacturer’s documentation or contact the manufacturer for more information about opening specific ports to allow network traffic.

If you have leased your router from your ISP, contact your ISP for more information.

If you live in a dormitory on a college campus that provides your Internet service, contact the school IT department and give them the TCP/UDP port information that is listed earlier in this article.

If you live in a pre-wired apartment complex and connect through an Ethernet port without any other external devices, contact the apartment complex and give them the TCP/UDP port information listed earlier in this article.
