OL2002: Incorrect E-Mail Address in To Box

When you right-click a contact in the Contact folder, and then click New Message to Contact, a new message is created. The new message has the following incorrect address in the To box: The address in the To box should be:

This problem occurs only if the following conditions are true:

• The e-mail address was imported from a Global Address List into a Personal Address Book.
• The Personal Address Book was then imported into your Contacts folder.

This problem is corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3.

After you install this fix, follow the steps that are listed in the "More Information" section of this article to set the ContactRecipientEmailAddressMask registry key and to activate the fix.

1. Quit Outlook 2002.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
4. Locate, and then click to select the following registry key:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Options
5. With the preceding key selected, on the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
6. Type ContactRecipientEmailAddressMask, and then press ENTER.
7. Right-click ContactRecipientEmailAddressMask, and then click Modify.
8. In the Value data box, type use an appropriate value from the table below, and then click OK.
9. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.

Note The registry entry must be made for each user account on this computer. The following list contains values that the ContactRecipientEmailAddressMask value can be set to turn off anti spoofing for various address types.


Note Setting the value to Off turns off anti spoofing for all address types, not only the ones in the list.
