Error message when you reinstall Exchange Server 2003 after you install Office 2003 or Office XP

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office 2003 or Microsoft Office XP on your Exchange Server 2003 computer, when you try to reinstall Exchange Server 2003 you receive the following error message:
A non-fatal setup error has occurred. For details see <Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Microsoft Exchange\Logs\Errorlog.txt>
Note Drive is the hard disk where Windows is installed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the version of Microsoft Search Service that is included with Office 2003 and Office XP is different from the version that is included with Exchange Server 2003.

WORKAROUND

Remove Office 2003 and Office XP from the Exchange Server 2003 computer, and then reinstall Exchange Server 2003.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. Office 2003 and Office XP are not supported on computers that run Exchange Server 2003.
