Hindi numerals are converted into Arabic in folder names

SYMPTOMS

When you create a folder in Windows with Arabic system local and start its name with a Hindi number, the number changes to Arabic character.

CAUSE

Since English precedes the numeral, the number will have Arabic (Western) shape. If Arabic precedes the numeral, the number will have Hindi shape.
If the number is the first character in the folder name, then it will default to the Arabic (Western) shape.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
