You receive an “Unable to Display Folder” error message when a search includes a deleted folder in Outlook 2003

SYMPTOMS

If all the following conditions are true when you use Outlook 2003
  • You use Outlook 2003 to connect to Microsoft Exchange 5.5.

    -and-
  • Use the Search feature to search for an item.

    -and-
  • You delete one of the folders that Outlook 2003 is searching for.
the following two symptoms occur:
  • The deleted folder still appears in the search results.

    -and-
  • You receive the following error message:
    Unable to Display Folder
