A backup folder contains copies of all the files that are changed by the installation of the service pack on your computer. The backup folder is created if you select the
Archive Files option during Windows 2000 SP4 Setup. When you select this option, you can remove the service pack after you install it to your computer. However, this option requires additional hard-disk space.
