You cannot preview or insert images correctly when you use Web Collections to search the Internet for clip art thumbnails in Office

When you search for clip art on the Internet by using the Web Collections search option in a Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2003 program, you may experience the following symptoms:

• When you preview the thumbnail images in the Clip Art task pane, a Microsoft Windows Media Player icon appears instead of a preview of the actual image.
• When you try to insert the clip art, you receive an error message that you cannot insert the clip in your document. The text of this message depends on the Office 2003 program you use. For example, when you use Microsoft Publisher, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
  Publisher cannot insert this picture into the publication. The appropriate graphic converter is not available. For information on running Setup to install converters, press F1.

Case 1

This problem may occur in situations when the clip that you downloaded from the Internet is deleted by Microsoft Internet Explorer before you can view it in the Clip Art task pane of the Office program.

Case 2

This problem may also occur if your firewall settings are preventing access to the clips.

Managing access to the Internet is performed through a proxy server. A proxy server is a component of a company's firewall.

Case 1

To resolve this problem when the clip that you downloaded from the Internet is deleted by Internet Explorer, delete the temporary Internet files on your computer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started).
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the General tab.
4. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
5. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to delete all temporary Internet files, click OK.
6. Click OK.

Case 2

To resolve this problem when your firewall settings are preventing access to the clips, verify the settings of your firewall or your Web acceleration products. Or, contact the network administrator.

A setting in your firewall or in your Web acceleration product may be preventing you from having access to the Internet. You may be able to adjust these settings to allow for access to sites that you cannot view. You may have to contact the network administrator and have them make the changes.

Contact the manufacturer of the software for more information about settings that you can adjust to enable Internet access from Office applications.
