SYMPTOMS
When you install McAfee Parental Controls on a Windows 2000 Service Pack (SP) 3-based computer or a Windows 2000 SP4-based computer, and then you restart the computer, the computer may not start correctly. The computer stops responding ("hangs"). CAUSEThis problem may occur when you restart the computer after you install McAfee Parental Controls on the computer and the Msdt.exe process consumes up to 99 percent of CPU resources. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, follow these steps to start the computer in Safe Mode, configure the Distribution Transaction Coordinator service and the McAfee Parental Control service to use the Manual startup type, and then remove McAfee Parental Controls from the computer.
