Spot colors in EPS graphics distill incorrectly to Printer Definition File (PDF) as color separations in Publisher 2003

In Publisher 2003, when you print a publication as color separations and then send the resulting PostScript file to Adobe Acrobat to distill directly to the Printer Definition File (PDF), spot colors in Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) graphics appear incorrectly. Instead of appearing in grayscale on the spot color plate, the spot colors appear in color on every plate. This problem also occurs with other PDF distilling programs, such as Global Graphics Jaws PDF Creator.

Note If you send the same PostScript file to a PostScript printer or an imagesetter, it prints correctly.

Method 1: Use the Separated PostScript File Directly

Instead of using Adobe Acrobat to distill the color separated PostScript file to PDF, send it directly to your imagesetter to produce the color separation plates.

Method 2: Print as Composite Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black (CMYK)

If you have to output your file to the PDF format, print the file as composite CMYK instead of separations. Use another program or your Routing Information Protocol (RIP) if it supports in-RIP separations, to color separate the composite CMYK PDF.
