The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package. This issue was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • From a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Service Web site, when you try to open a Microsoft Excel 2000 file that contains a number sign (#) as part of the path statement for the file, you may receive the following error message:
path\filename.xls could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files on the File menu, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
Note The path statement in the error message is truncated before the number sign.
