OL2002: File Attachment Is Lost When You Send Multiple Attachments

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Outlook 2002 with Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2) installed and you send an e-mail message that contains both a non-Microsoft Office file attachment and an Office file attachment, the non-Office file attachment may be lost.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when all the following conditions are true:
  • You create the e-mail message as either plain text format or Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format.

    and
  • You first attach an Office file (for example, a .doc file) to the e-mail message, and you then attach a non-Office file (for example, a .txt file) to the e-mail message.

    and
  • You save the e-mail message before you send it.
