List of issues that you may experience when you use PowerPoint 2002

When you use PowerPoint 2002, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

• Your linked or embedded pictures do not appear correctly.
• You receive an error message that states that PowerPoint has found an error it cannot correct.
• You cannot paste text.
• PowerPoint stops responding (hangs).
• You receive error messages that are similar to the following:
  PowerPoint has enountered a problem and needs to close.

This issue may be caused by a corrupted PowerPoint registry subkey.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this issue, delete the PowerPoint registry subkey. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. In Registry Editor, click the following subkey in the registry:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\10.0\PowerPoint
4. On the File menu, click Export.
5. In the File name box, type PowerPoint, and then click Save.
6. Right-click the subkey, and then click Delete.
7. Click Yes.
8. Quit Registry Editor.
9. Start PowerPoint.
   
   When you start PowerPoint, PowerPoint re-creates the deleted subkey.
