You receive a cannot reschedule error message when you try to change the time for a recurring meeting in Outlook 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you try to change the time for a recurring meeting, you may receive the following error message:
Cannot reschedule an occurrence of the recurring appointment meeting_nameif it skips over a later occurrence of the same appointment.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • If your local time zone is across the International Dateline.

    -and-
  • If the current date and time for your location is the next day for the meeting organizer's location.


Outlook 2003 incorrectly identifies your date and time as being in the same time zone as the meeting organizer and perceives that the time that your are proposing to change the meeting for is for the next day. Outlook 2003 will not permit you to change the time for a meeting if it perceives that the time you are choosing has already occurred.
