"Stop error code 0x0000000A" occurs during a period of high hard disk activityArticle ID: 824679 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMS
Your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer may crash during a period of high disk activity. When this problem occurs, you receive the following Stop error message: *** Stop 0x0000000A
CAUSEThis problem occurs if the NTFS file system incorrectly extends the Master File Table (MFT) bitmap. In this scenario, NTFS may extend the bitmap size without actually extending the MFT file. A request to the cache manager is then unsuccessful because it extends beyond the end of file (EOF), resulting in the Stop error that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article. RESOLUTIONHotfix InformationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
