On This PageSYMPTOMSYour Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer stops responding, and you receive the following Stop error message: STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0x77F8DD1B, 0x000000BC, 0x0106C108) CAUSEThis problem may occur when your Windows 2000-based server is running Microsoft Windows NT Virtual DOS Machine (NTVDM), a process that simulates a 16-bit Windows environment so that 16-bit programs can run as if they were being run on an MS-DOS-based computer. RESOLUTIONHotfix InformationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
