STOP 0x0000001E Error on Your Windows 2000-Based Server When an NTVDM Process Runs

SYMPTOMS

Your Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer stops responding, and you receive the following Stop error message:

STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0x77F8DD1B, 0x000000BC, 0x0106C108)

This problem may occur when your Windows 2000-based server is running Microsoft Windows NT Virtual DOS Machine (NTVDM), a process that simulates a 16-bit Windows environment so that 16-bit programs can run as if they were being run on an MS-DOS-based computer.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix Information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
