SYMPTOMS

The MDX NON EMPTY keyword phrase removes all empty members from the axis where the keyword phrase is used. However, if the MDX statement that is being executed meets all the following conditions, empty members may be returned on the axis:
  • The cube that the MDX statement queries is a virtual cube.
  • The measures that are used in the MDX statement are sourced from a single base cube that is included in the virtual cube.
  • The dimensions that are requested on the axis in the MDX statement are sourced from the same base cube as the measures that are used in the MDX statement.
  • The MDX statement includes a WHERE clause (slicer axis).
  • The members that are referenced in the slicer axis are sourced from a different base cube than the measures and the other axis members.
  • The members that are referenced in the slicer axis are from a level other than the All level.
