2007 and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 do not index content correctly. As a
result, users either cannot search for SPS content or may receive unexpected
results when they try to search for content in the portal site. No error or
warning messages are logged to the application event log or to the SharePoint
Portal Server log files. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the URL of the portal site in the
Portal Web Address box of the Configure Connection to
Portal Site page is changed from "/" (without the quotation marks) to
a different URL. In this situation, SharePoint
content is not indexed (but indexes Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services content) and does
not display or log an error or warning message to provide information about the
issue or how to troubleshoot the issue. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, make sure that the URL of the
portal site is specified correctly in the Portal Web Address
box of the Configure Connection to Portal Site page. To do so,
follow these steps:
