"SIDHistory Could Not Be Updated Due to a Configuration or Permissions Problem" Error Message When You Use the ADMT Tool

When you use the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) to migrate users, groups, or computers between two Microsoft Windows 2000 domains, or between a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 domain and a Windows 2000 domain, the migration is unsuccessful. If you view the Migration.log file, you see error messages that are similar to the following:
Note The Migration.log file is stored in the folder where you installed ADMT, typically in the %Program Files%\Active Directory Migration Tool folder.

This issue may occur if the target domain (that you are migrating objects to) cannot resolve the source domain through Domain Name System (DNS).

To resolve this issue, correct the DNS resolution problem.

To add the source domain's DNS records to the target domain's DNS, add a standard secondary forward lookup zone for the source domain in the DNS of the target domain.

Note Microsoft recommends that after you add the DNS records for the source domain, you run the ipconfig /flushdns command on the computer that has the ADMT utility installed before you try to run ADMT again.
