Article ID: 826982 - Last Review: March 27, 2007 - Revision: 7.4 User.Dat Registry File Is Not Excluded from the Profile Quota Policy
On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you have roaming user profiles that are set to limit the user profile size through Group Policy, you can exclude the User.dat registry file from the user profile size calculation. However, although the User.dat file is removed from the profile storage space, the size of the file is still included in the user profile size calculation to determine whether the user profile exceeds the size limit that you have set. This behavior is correct. However, the explanatory text for the GPO option says: If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the system does not limit the size of roaming user profiles. This statement incorrectly implies that the User.dat file is not counted. The hotfix that is described in this article does not change the behavior, but modifies the explanatory text to make it accurate.RESOLUTIONService pack informationTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows Server 2003.
