SYMPTOMS

When you use a program on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, the memory that Dnsapi.dll uses may continually grow, and memory may not be returned to the computer over time.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a code error when the resolver checks to see whether the host must update a single label domain.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
