Part 2: Activate the Update

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
  1. Quit Visio.
  2. Install the fix that is described in "Part 1: Download and Install the Fix" of the "Resolution" section.
  3. Start Visio.
  4. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  5. On the Advanced tab, click to select the Put all settings in the Windows registry check box, and then click OK.
  6. Quit Visio.
  7. Click Start, and then click Run.
  8. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  9. Locate, and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Visio\Application
  10. Right-click SnapToShapeComplexity, and then click Modify.
  11. In the Value data box, type a larger numeric value for more complexity, and then click OK.

Note The default value is 50. You may enter a numeric value between 50 and 1000. Values below 50 are treated as 50 and values greater than 1000 are treated as 1000. The connection points will accept more connections through the mouse command when you increase the value. However, it will also require greater processing power. If you increase the value too much performance may be decreased unnecessarily.
  12. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
