in the notification area, a new side note window appears with the text from
another open side note window and the new side note window is marked as read
only and you cannot make any edits. CAUSEThis problem occurs when both the first side note window and
the Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 window are minimized when you click the
Open new side note icon in the notification area to create a
new side note. This problem only occurs if you wait longer than the current

Method 3Maximize the first side note window instead of creating a new side note window, and then click New page to create a new side note page.MORE INFORMATIONOneNote 2003 locks section files so that they cannot be
edited by more than one computer at the same time. By default, OneNote 2003
releases this lock after a certain period of time if you have not been working
on a file. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in OneNote 2003 Service Pack 1.
