SYMPTOMS

When you try to establish a TCP/IP session, your computer may stop responding, and you may receive a "Stop 0xD1" error message.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if TCP/IP receives an incomplete Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packet and tries to make a maximum segment size (MSS) adjustment to the packet. As a result, TCP/IP resets the count of packets received. When this problem occurs, TCP/IP expects to receive more ICMP packets than are actually delivered.
