The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Service crashes when DTS is used to transfer data between SQL Server and Oracle Database

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Service (MSDTC) may crash when Data Transformation Services (DTS) is used to transfer data between Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the MSDTC does not correctly change its internal state when it receives a connection_down message from Oracle Database.

RESOLUTION
