SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Component Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in may crash when it tries to import Component Object Model (COM) components that are already registered.

CAUSE

The Component Services MMC snap-in may crash when it tries to list the COM component that is already registered in the registry when a registry value is not the expected type.

RESOLUTION
