Issues That Are Fixed in the Hotfix Package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.

When you try to make some changes to Russian language text in a Microsoft Office document (for example, Microsoft Word), your Office program may quit unexpectedly and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Microsoft program has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Prerequisites

The optimized and the full-file versions of this hotfix are a post-Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office 2000 SP-3 installed.
