SUMMARY

You cannot use the Organizational Chart Wizard in Microsoft Office Visio 2003 and in Microsoft Office Visio 2007 to import UTF-8 encoded text.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Visio import feature only supports Unicode and ANSI encoded text.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use Microsoft Notepad to change the text encoding to a supported text format. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Notepad.
2.On the File menu, click Open.
3.Locate your UTF-8 text document.
4.Click this file, and then click OK.
5.On the File menu, click Save As.
6.In the Encoding list, click either ANSI or Unicode.
7.Click Save.
8.On the File menu, click Close.
Your document is now in a supported file format and can be imported into Visio.
