SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office 2003, when you try to connect to your Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 document library or to your backward-compatible Web storage-based document library for Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you receive the following error message:
To connect to the backward-compatible document library, you must install the client components of the document library component for Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
As a result, you can no longer access your document library by using the current network shares and you cannot create a new connection to your document library.

CAUSE
